ASTRALFLIX Interviews William Buhlman

Can we go out-of-the body during the hypnagogic state in the evening or in the morning? If yes, what is the best method?

Yes of course. This is the best time to apply an out-of-body technique. There is no best method, it all depends on the individual. There are visualization methods, tactile like the rope, affirmations, or movement (swinging). You can find all this exercises in my first book “Adventures beyond your body”.

The most important thing is to be concentrated entirely on the technique, to let go and move away from your physical body.

Why do we have to wait until the end of the vibrations to go out? What exactly these vibrations do?

Vibrations reflect a change in frequency on the continuum of consciousness. This is a signal that we are out of the physical reality which would be an energetic phenomenon. The key is to surrender to the vibrations and allow them to expand throughout your entire beingness. Waiting until the end of them could stop the experience.

Do you always have your analytical skills during your out-of-body experiences?

Yes always. Not having the ability to analyze is the same way as having dreams that you cannot control. To control the experience is essential. For this you can help yourself with affirmations like “awareness now!” “Clarity Now!”

Have you observed the silver cord? Could you describe it to us and give us your opinion about her function?

I observed this silver cord during one of my first experiences which I relate in my book “Adventures beyond the body”. It was an experience with my dog. However, I think, after more than 40 years of experience, that the reality we experience outside the physical body being very sensitive to thoughts, we see what we believe. The silver cord belongs to a belief system.

Can we go out of the body and see the physical world as it is, without any modifications or anomalies of the environment where we are?

It is very difficult to see the physical reality during an out of body because most of the time we are operating in the parallel nonphysical dimension. Consciousness during an out-of-body experience has a different and more subtle vibrational rate. To avoid any distortion of the physical environment, you must be in your physical vehicle.

In your book, you talk about your first experience, in 1972. You say you found a technique in a book. But you didn't give the book’s name or explain the method you practiced at this time. What was the title of this book and which technique did he recommend?

At the time there wasn't so much information about this subject like today. The book I found was “The Art and Practice of Astral Projection” by Ophiel. It describes a method called “Little System”, it‘s what today I call the target technique.

When you observe yourself sleeping in bed, what exactly do you see? Do you see your real physical body? Some people perceive a black mass. Do you have a hypothesis about this?

The experiences where I was able to observe my bed, I just saw a mass sleeping there. But I didn't dwell on the details, my goal being to get as far away from my physical body as possible. There is like a magnetic field around the physical body that alters vision and draws us towards it in a significant way. One of the tips for controlling these OBEs is to move away from this area as quickly as possible.

You explained that during one of your out-of-body experiences you were in a dimension extremely close to the physical plane, it was not separated by time or space but rather by energy frequency or density. Can you explain?

I think you are referring to my experiences with the pen on the nightstand.

The dimension closest to the physical plane is slightly more subtle, that is to say less dense. To access a given level, you must lower or increase the frequency of your consciousness. The closer we are to the physical dimension, the less time or space gap there is. That is to say, you can witness a scene while being out of body and then go and check on the physical level if it is accurate, if the people are the same and the situation is identical.

You say that the nearest non-physical dimension and its energetic structures coexist with the physical dimension and are as the energetic infrastructure for matter itself. However, the same immaterial structures also exist completely independently of the physical universe. Could you give examples to illustrate these points of view?

Do you think that the physical world is a copy of the immaterial reality in the same way that our physical body could be a copy of our energetic body? If so, why non-physical reality, on very close planes, wouldn't be the exact copy? Why don't we see our copies on these other planes?

The physical world is the densest level and the further we move away from it, the closer we get to Source. I don't think it's a copy of the immaterial world but the densest result. This is what I call the continuum of consciousness. It’s a bit like changing the frequency of a radio. The planes closest to the physical reality look like an emanation of it. When we move away, the density is lower and therefore more easily malleable by thought. There are consensual universes like the physical world and some immaterial dimensions and other non-consensual ones. Each of the plans is unique which is why there are differences.

Is it possible for our consciousness to be projected into the physical body of another people? Or can they just be other versions of ourselves on other planes?

Because the soul does not leave the body, I do not think that someone can come into possession of another body. But, from my experience, we can quite easily find ourselves in a body that we occupied during a previous life. I personally experienced it when I found myself as a German soldier during the Second World War. It’s an experience I related in my first book.

Thanks to the knowledge accumulated during your many experiences, do you think you can map the astral planes or at least some kinds of experiences? And if so, which criteria do you use? (for example, brightness, colors, feeling of love, etc.)?

Mapping what cannot be mapped is a very human reflection. We must not forget that we are limited by our 5 physical senses and by our human filters. There are non-physical realities that go beyond all these concepts. For me there are a multitude of non-physical dimensions that are difficult for our mind to understand. Particularly where the time concept, matter and therefore space no longer exist. Furthermore, wasting time trying to list this kind of thing is going in circles and missing the point: knowing your true spiritual source, experiencing your higher self. And these illusions are there to distract us from who we really are. The goal of the OBE practitioner is to go beyond illusions.

How important is the vibrational state for the out-of-body experience? Is it necessary? Do we experience it even if we do not feel or perceive it? How can we induce it in an easier way?

The vibrational state does not mean that there are necessarily vibrations. It is the state where consciousness is ready to move away from the physical body. Some people feel vibrations and others not. It can also be sounds, noises or sensations such as feeling being touched. This is simply the step before the release. This is not a matter of necessity; it’s just a part of the natural process. Everyone experiences it in their own way. It depends of the energy balance of the body.

You can induce it directly by deep relaxation techniques combined with out-of-body exercises, or by seeking the hypnagogic state, or by waking up without moving or through a lucid dream. You can find all this information in my book Adventures Beyond the Body.

Today which importance place of the OBE would you like that it represents in the daily life of human in general?

I would like everyone to have an out-of-body experience, even once, to understand that we are much more than a physical body and that death is not the end. I think if everyone was interested in this kind of experience, there would be less conflict in the world.

For example, should OBE be a natural experience, or do you think it should be taught/worked/practiced as if it were a fundamental aspect of human life?

What has the SHC brought you in your personal life? The SHC allowed me to know my true spiritual identity and the true meaning of life. Knowing that we are much more than a physical body and that death does not exist is something essential. First-hand knowledge is something much more valuable than intellectual knowledge.

We often read that we have seven subtle bodies and that to pass from one astral plane to another we must leave the vehicle of the current plane to use the next one. Do you share this idea? Is it possible to directly visit higher planes without having to go through these levels?

The concept of the seven planes is taken from the Theosophical Society which was created by Helena Blavasky. Theosophy, although interesting, is a mixture of various religions and more particularly Hinduism and Buddhism. Seven dimensions is another belief system. Based upon my four decades of experiences, I can affirm that there are more than seven.

What is you opinion about chakras and energetic exercises on them for an out-of-body experience?

Energy work with the chakras is important, not essential, but it can provide real help because it increases our internal energy, which can facilitate exit from the body.
